We Included “Enviro” in our HVAC Company’s Name for a Reason

HVAC systems have come a long way in energy efficiency since we began serving Kansas City area homeowners in 1984. Even back then, doing our part to protect the environment was just as important as ensuring your home’s environment was comfortable year-round. Doing right by our customers and the environment matters to us so much that “enviro” is part of our name.

Doing the Right Thing for our HVAC Customers

Conserving energy not only benefits our customers by way of lowering utility bills, but also decreases demand on resources. Local utility companies have developed programs to assist homeowners in improving HVAC efficiency, such as offering smart thermostats for free or at a deep discount.

We encourage you to take advantage of those programs, as well as take it a step further. Envirotech Heating & Cooling team members are happy to come to your home or office and perform an energy assessment. Education on the importance of high efficiency, ozone-friendly equipment, which can reduce ozone emissions from 20-50%, usually is an eye opener for our customers.

Working with HVAC systems day in and day out, our technicians are up to date on new products and are constantly researching the latest technology in the heating, cooling and home comfort industry. Of course, any HVAC system investment should be one that is proven to meet your goals, whether it’s energy savings, better comfort, cleaner air, etc. That means making sure the HVAC equipment that you purchase isn’t something that someone has heard good things about, but rather has been tested and installed by your HVAC expert.

Envirotech Heating & Cooling installs equipment in our own homes and in friends and family’s homes to test actual performance, and overall satisfaction of the products and services before recommending it to our customers. Having personal experience with what we sell, install and service is the only way we can truly stand behind our work.

Doing the Right Thing for the Environment

We take precautions to protect our environment and ozone. One of the most important is reclaiming all the old refrigerant from the air conditioning systems that we replace. Refrigerant is taken to a distributor who sends it back to the original manufacturer. From there, the refrigerant is either properly destroyed or cleaned so it can be resold and reused. Why is reclaiming refrigerant important? If refrigerant is leaked into the atmosphere, it can be harmful to the ozone.

About R-22 and R-410A refrigerant. HVAC systems manufactured prior to 2010 that use R-22 (HCFC-22) refrigerant have been phased out. It was discovered that R-22 contributed to ozone depletion and climate change. R-22 has been replaced with ozone-friendly refrigerants such as R-410A. HVAC systems built after 2010 are compatible with R-410A straight from the manufacturer, and certain older equipment can be retrofitted to use R-410A. R-410A requires less compression to reach desired temps, improving your HVAC system’s efficiency. Another benefit is that it putss less stress on the system, increasing its life span and performance. Between having home insulation, an energy-efficient HVAC system and regular maintenance, everyone can play a big part in protecting the environment.

Our team brings back to our shop all HVAC equipment that is removed. We partner with an independent scrap metal handling company that tears down all components for safe recycling. And, speaking of recycling, of course, our office staff recycles all paper products, cans, plastics and cardboard.

New energy-efficient HVAC systems have measurably improved the way homeowners use their heating and cooling systems. Not only are they saving on utility costs via improved performance, but also, they’re making a positive impact on the environment to benefit us all.
